GYMIES ACCESS CONTROL & TAILGATING POLICY

Tailgate / "Letting in"

Purpose

To protect member safety, facility security, and fair access to Gymies Fitness Center, all entry access is strictly controlled through individual electronic access scanning.

One Person Per Scan

  • Every individual must scan in separately using their own active Gymies access credentials.

  • Allowing any person to enter the facility without scanning is strictly prohibited

  • This applies to all individuals, including members, guests, family, or anyone claiming to have forgotten access credentials.

Definition of Tailgating

Tailgating is defined as any instance in which one or more individuals enter the facility without successfully scanning their own access credentials after door has been unlocked by another member.

​

Member Responsibility

  • The member whose scan unlocks the door is fully responsible for ensuring the door closes behind them.

  • If another individual enters without scanning, the scanning member's account will be held accountable regardless of intent, awareness, or circumstance.

Monitoring & Documentation

  • All entries are monitored by video surveillance and tailgate detector

  • Tailgate violations are documented using video or still-image evidence.

  • Documentation may be used for enforcement, billing, and member communication.

Violation Charges

  • Each documented tailgating incident results in a $20 Access Control Violation Charge.

  • Charges are applied per incident, per occurrence, without warning or grace period.

​

No Exceptions

  • Charges apply without exception, including but not limited to politeness, unfamiliarity with policy, forgotten phones, or assumptions that another individual is a member.

​

Appeals

  • Member may submit one appeal per incident within 48 hours of notification.

  • Appeals are limited to verification of factual error only (e.g., mistaken identity or incorrect documentation).

  • Appeals do not pause or reverse charges unless an error is confirmed.

Repeated Violations

  • Multiple violations may result in suspension or termination of membership at Gymies Fitness Center's sole discretion.

​

Acknowledgement

By maintaining an active membership, all members acknowledge and agree to comply with the Access Control & Tailgate Policy.
